Mien
Here is another culture not bound by borders. Like the Mayan across the world in Central America, the Mien people travel across several countries including Laos, Vietnam and probably originating in Southern China. Many Mien emigrated to the US to flee several conflicts in the area over the last century.
The fabrics were purchased in the mountains from villagers. The star field is made from two headscarfs and the rest of the flag was a pair of trousers. The detailed embroidery is typical of the area. © 2010
