This Chinese American flag is made from traditional weave Chinese silk fabrics. The stars are represented by 3D hand made silk doll characters. I have tried to discover the history or meaning of these characters found on boxes and pincushions but so far nothing. The fringe is made from Jade Chinese zodiac charms. According to the site www.chinese-zodiac-symbols.com/ the Buddha choose the animals to represent the months of the Zodiac in the order in which they arrived when summoned to meet him. Unfortunately the rat broke his promise to wake the cat so the cat overslept, therefore there is no cat in the zodiac. © 2004
